Weights & Biases vs Hugging Face: Which Do You Need?
By the Axiomi editorial team at Ahzy Capital · Prices last verified Oct 28, 2026 · How we test
People compare these two a lot, but they do different jobs. Weights & Biases tracks and evaluates your training runs. Hugging Face Hub hosts and shares models, datasets and demos. Most ML teams end up using both.

What each is for
Weights & Biases logs metrics, hyperparameters and artifacts while you train, so you can compare runs. Its Weave product covers evaluating LLM apps.
Hugging Face Hub is where you publish or download models and datasets, host Spaces demos, and rent GPU hardware for them.
Pricing
Both have a free tier. At our last check, Hugging Face PRO was a few dollars a month for individuals, and W&B Pro started higher with a 30 day trial. Team pricing is per user on both.
Verdict
They aren't alternatives. Use W&B (or an open source tracker like MLflow) to track experiments, and Hugging Face to share and serve the results. Solo researchers can run both on free tiers.
